Developer Product Marketing Manager

Airwallex•San Francisco, CA
•$190,000 - $270,000

About The Position

Airwallex is hiring a senior individual contributor to lead product marketing for the products developers use to build on Airwallex, including APIs, the sandbox, documentation, and AgentOS, its MCP servers, CLI, and skills. The role serves developers, technical founders, builders using AI coding tools, and technology partners that integrate with Airwallex. It combines positioning and launch leadership with hands-on technical work to test products and monitor developer usage from initial discovery through API activation and production adoption. The role owns messaging and launch strategy and execution, collaborating with the DevX product team, partner integrations, developer content and partnerships roles, technical writers, Marketing, Communications, Sales, Solutions Engineering, Product, Data Science, Legal, and Compliance. Several products are new and evolving, so the manager will regularly update positioning as capabilities ship, use the products directly, and engage developers and technical founders to understand their goals and obstacles. The role relies on partner teams for integrations, documentation, and case studies rather than producing those assets independently.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in product marketing, developer marketing, or a similar role, including positioning and launching APIs, developer tools, or other technical products.
  • Hands-on technical ability to read API documentation, make API calls, and build a small working prototype, including with AI coding tools; must be able to show something built.
  • Strong writing skills, with a positioning document, launch post, or landing page written for developers that the candidate can present and explain the results of.
  • Experience owning launches from brief through results and setting goals using usage data such as sign-ups, activation, and conversion.
  • Experience working with Product, Engineering, Sales, Legal, and Marketing, including pushing back when claims exceed current product capabilities.
  • Ability to set direction amid rapidly changing products and unsettled processes and achieve outcomes in a lean environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience marketing payments, fintech infrastructure, or other regulated financial products and working with Legal or Compliance on product claims.
  • Experience with AI agents, MCP, agent frameworks, or AI coding tools, through either a marketed product or personal work.
  • A developer launch for which the candidate can identify the usage metric that changed and by how much.
  • Experience working with technical writers on documentation landing pages, getting-started paths, or search optimization.
  • Experience with startups and technical founders, including accelerator programs, developer communities, or hackathons.

Responsibilities

  • Define and update positioning and core messaging for each developer product and audience, including comparisons with competing payment and financial APIs on time to first API call, product coverage, and documentation quality.
  • Maintain product names and definitions and clearly describe what works in the sandbox versus production for AgentOS and other developer products; ensure consistent use across websites, documentation, AI-tool and agent-platform listings, campaigns, and sales materials.
  • Plan and run launches for developer products and major features, from internal brief through announcement, documentation updates, and developer-channel posts; set usage goals and metrics before launch and report results afterward.
  • Write positioning documents, launch posts, and landing-page copy; brief the Developer Content Manager on launch priorities and review case studies, teardowns, and explainers for positioning before publication.
  • Work with technical writers on the documentation landing page and Get Started path so developers can find the right product and reach a first API call; technical writers retain ownership of documentation.
  • Track developer adoption with Product and Data Science using sandbox-account creation, successful API calls, monthly active sandbox accounts, and conversion to production; identify where developers stall and recommend changes to messaging, documentation, or the product.
  • Work with Sales and Solutions Engineering to define a qualified developer lead based on sandbox activity and establish the handoff process.
  • Verify developer-facing claims against currently shipped capabilities and work with Product, Legal, and Compliance on wording for regulated products; clearly state what works in the sandbox, what works in production, and what is not yet available.
  • Equip Strategic Partnerships, Solutions Engineering, and Sales with the product story, demo flow, and answers to common developer questions for each launch.
  • Provide Marketing with developer messaging for campaigns, including developer influencer work.
  • Bring developer feedback and observed obstacles to Product and DevX, drawing on support questions, Docs AI questions, developer Slack, documentation feedback, and reference builds.
