About the position
The Developer Advocacy team at StarTree is seeking a passionate individual with a software engineering background to join their team. The role involves showcasing the benefits of Apache Pinot® and related technologies to developers, through presentations, blog posts, documentation, and sample code. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, a deep understanding of real-time analytics, and the ability to empathize with developers learning new technologies. Some travel is required for this role.
Responsibilities
- Create fun, engaging, technically deep presentations explaining Pinot, real-time analytics, and related technologies to fellow developers
- Present at conferences and meetups, both online and in person
- Write blog posts sharing discoveries and explaining Pinot concepts in written form
- Contribute documentation topics to help developers adopt and use Pinot successfully
- Write quality sample code illustrating how to embed real-time analytics in practical applications
- Create screencasts and tutorial videos explaining and applying Pinot and related technologies
- Answer questions in Community Slack, Stack Overflow, Twitter, or wherever developers are asking questions about Pinot
- Travel 20-30% of the time
Requirements
- Good writing and presenting skills
- Background as a software engineer
- Deep empathy for developers learning new technologies
- Willingness to travel 20-30% of the time
- Experience speaking at conferences, meetups, hosting webinars, or leading training
- Experience writing technical blog posts or documentation
- Extensive experience with at least one common programming language (Java, Python, Ruby, C++)
- Basic understanding of other programming languages
- Experience and understanding of variety of technologies related to real-time analytics
