Dev Ops Engineer

Remedy RoboticsSan Francisco, CA

About The Position

Remedy Robotics is developing the world's first remotely-operated, semi-autonomous endovascular surgical robot to address the global disparity in access to cardiovascular care. The company has successfully demonstrated remote surgical procedures from significant distances and is now seeking to scale this technology. The role of Dev Ops Engineer is crucial for bringing this technology from the lab into hospitals. The engineer will own the developer platform for a small, multi-disciplinary team, focusing on a stack primarily in Python, with C++ for robot control and TypeScript for UIs. The infrastructure spans on-prem lab compute, GPU workstations, and the cloud. This is a "team-of-one" role where the individual will define, build, and operate the platform, working directly with software, ML, hardware, and data teams to optimize the development cycle and deployment processes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, platform, or infrastructure engineering for complex systems.
  • Experience operating CI/CD for polyglot codebases, including debugging GitHub Actions, creating workflows, and understanding runner tradeoffs.
  • Strong Linux administration skills and proficiency with infrastructure-as-code.
  • Strong Python fluency, with the ability to read and contribute to C++ and TypeScript.
  • Cloud experience (AWS or equivalent).
  • Advanced proficiency with coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) for daily productivity.
  • Clear communication skills and a service-oriented mindset focused on enabling other engineers.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in robotics, embedded systems, or scientific computing.
  • Experience with ML pipeline tooling such as SkyPilot, MetaFlow, or Ray.
  • Experience managing self-hosted GitHub Actions runners at scale.
  • Familiarity with Python monorepo tooling (uv, Poetry, Bazel) and C++ packaging (Conan, vcpkg).
  • Experience with real-time Linux.
  • Experience with audit-friendly build infrastructure (signed builds, traceable artifacts, reproducible builds).
  • Prior experience in the medical device or regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate CI/CD pipelines for Python, C++, ML training, and TypeScript codebases, considering their unique testing and deployment needs.
  • Manage and maintain lab compute infrastructure, including Ubuntu servers, GPU workstations, and associated networking.
  • Enhance developer experience by improving local development environments, package management, build times, and test reliability.
  • Integrate hardware-in-the-loop testing into the CI flow for regression testing of the robot.
  • Standardize and strengthen security across both on-premise and cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with the ML team on GPU pipelines, experiment tracking, and model deployment.
  • Manage cloud infrastructure for training, data storage, and remote services.
  • Partner with engineers to implement optimal tools and processes for the team.
