About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a full-time, unarmed Detention Security Officer in Charleston, South Carolina. Serving a government location in a correctional facility environment, the officer provides customer service and carries out security procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency-response activities. This is a driving position requiring a valid driver’s license. The listed pay rate is $17.00 per hour. The schedule lists Tuesday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Friday from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, and Saturday from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license in the state where the job is located; a valid license is required for driving positions.
At least 1 year of law enforcement experience, 2 years of security supervisor/manager experience, or 3 years of security-related experience.
At least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Applicants are subject to a background investigation and, to the extent permitted by law, a drug screen.
Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required before employment.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and authorized personnel while following security procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency-response activities.
Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, access points, and perimeter areas to deter unauthorized activity and identify potential concerns.
Monitor access to designated areas, verify credentials as directed, and report unauthorized entry attempts or policy violations.
Respond calmly to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations, following post orders and escalation procedures.
Accurately document patrols, incidents, observations, and interactions in required logs and reports, and communicate relevant information to supervisors and facility personnel.
