About The Position

Teph Seal Auto Appearance is hiring flat-rate detailers for its detail shop in Bethesda, Maryland. The company operates detail and reconditioning centers in auto dealerships across the United States and describes its employees as key contributors to its customer-focused, entrepreneurial culture. Detailers drive, detail, and clean vehicles; maintain the store facilities; and help provide high-quality service and customer satisfaction through courteous service and timely responses to customer inquiries and complaints. Openings are listed for Detail Specialist 1 (some experience) and Detail Specialist 2 (2+ years of experience). Compensation is flat rate. The work involves cleaning vehicle exteriors and interiors, applying protective products, and inspecting completed work for quality. It is physically demanding and requires frequent bending, lifting, reaching, squatting, and entering and exiting vehicles. Work may take place outdoors in varying climate conditions, and employees will move numerous vehicles during the workday. The role requires adherence to uniform and grooming standards and may include additional duties assigned by management. Employment is contingent on successful completion of drug and background screening.

Requirements

A valid driver's license and a good driving record.
Ability to drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
Ability to learn quickly and work as part of a team.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
Desire to treat each customer's personal vehicle with great care and respect.
Commitment to arrive on time and stay on task during the shift.
Availability to work Saturday or Sunday and holidays when necessary to meet production needs.
Detail Specialist 1 opening: some experience.
Detail Specialist 2 opening: 2 or more years of experience.
Successful completion of drug and background screening is required for employment.
Ability to distinguish small imperfections in completed work, such as streaks or smudges and areas of missed vacuuming.
Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication; clarity of vision and hearing.
Strict adherence to uniform and grooming standards.

Responsibilities

Maintain store facilities to support high-quality service.
Drive, detail, and clean vehicles.
Wash vehicle exteriors using cleaning solutions; wax and buff vehicles with cloths and buffing machines as needed.
Vacuum vehicle interiors and clean upholstery and surfaces.
Dry surfaces with air compressors and cloths, and apply preservation chemicals to protect surfaces from spots and stains.
Use dyes, paints, and waxes to protect vehicle leather or fabric as needed.
Clean and remove grease from engines or engine compartments as needed.
Respond to customer inquiries and complaints courteously and in a timely manner.
Quality-inspect personal work and the work of other team members.
Carry out additional duties assigned by management to meet operational needs.
Work with urgency and treat customers’ vehicles with care and respect.
