The Detail/Porter role is crucial in maintaining the quality and presentation of our customer vehicles and the overall shop environment.

Requirements

  • Clean and valid Driver's License (must be insurable by company policy)

  • Ability to withstand environmental conditions of Auto Body Shop
  • Ability to stand, sit, and kneel for periods of time
  • Ability to transport customers using company vehicle and transport vehicles as needed
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds

Responsibilities

  • Transport customers and parts as requested, while maintaining professionalism and safe driving practices.
  • Detail customer vehicles before and after body repairs are completed and as requested.
  • Clean interior and exterior of vehicles, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Remove all overspray from vehicles.
  • Carefully inspect freshly painted surfaces for imperfections.
  • Always maintain a safe, organized, and clean work area.
  • Perform general shop and parking lot cleanup; Clean the shop and office areas, including bathrooms.
  • Empty trash bins multiple times a day from the shop truck, bathrooms, paint shop, and offices (this includes moving boxes, metal, and other materials to appropriate bins).
  • Ensure that vehicles are ready for delivery and parked in a dedicated location.
  • Be aware of any “Parking Lot Promises” made to customers and ensure those are fulfilled.
  • Review daily vehicle assignments with the Production Manager/GM to stay updated on due-out times and tasks.
  • Make sure vehicles left out overnight are locked and secure.
  • Complete Quality Control (QC) sheets for every vehicle after detailing or repairs are finished.
  • Ensure strong communication with front desk regarding vehicle status and that keys and repair orders are returned to the office once the vehicle is completed.
  • Organize clean-up schedules based on due-out times for efficiency.
  • Assist in moving vehicles in and out of the shop as necessary (including nightly and in inclement weather).
  • Assist the team with minor tasks and general upkeep as directed.
  • Maintain positive and "can do" attitude with regards to customer and team member assistance and requests.
  • Move boxes, metal, and other materials to appropriate bins in timely fashion.
