The role is part of an expanding design team working on innovative technology and is based in either the Austin, Texas office or the Hudson, New Hampshire office. The position works with engineering, mechanical design, manufacturing, operations, and design teams to produce prototype and production-quality printed circuit boards in accordance with BAE Systems standards and procedures. It also provides customer support for library-part, model, geometry, and board-outline issues. Pursuant to a government contract, U.S. citizenship is required.

Requirements

  • Experience with Cadence Allegro 17.2 or higher for layout, and/or Librarian and schematic capture.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Mechanical 2017.
  • Ability to read and interpret industry part specifications.
  • Proficiency with Excel.
  • Proficiency with a Product Data Management tool such as Dassault Systems ENOVIA.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
  • Solid understanding of IPC-2221 and associated specifications and standards.
  • Strong communication skills, willingness to try new things, and ability to take direction well.
  • U.S. citizenship is required pursuant to a government contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Receive and expedite part requests using a Product Data Management tool.
  • Create board outlines manually and/or using DXF or EMN files.
  • Provide customer support for issues concerning library parts, models, geometries, and board outlines.
  • Coordinate with Component Engineering on part, symbol, model, and geometry selection; attributes; and work scheduling.
  • Collaborate with the Mechanical Design team in Creo to import and create 3D part models.
  • Work with operations to ensure footprints meet factory-floor requirements.
  • Create new schematic diagrams and modify existing ones using Cadence HDL, following instructions from the electrical engineering team or Senior Principal Designer.
  • Create intermediate-level Cadence Design layouts and design outputs required for board fabrication and assembly under the direction of a Senior Principal Designer.
  • Participate in design reviews and work with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and process engineers to design prototype and production-quality printed circuit boards in accordance with BAE Systems standards and procedures.
