Design Reliability Engineer

General Matter•Los Angeles, CA

About The Position

General Matter is hiring a Design Reliability Engineer for its Design Reliability team. The team evaluates and guides engineering designs from concept through operation, ensuring that the enrichment technology built meets or exceeds internal design criteria and external requirements. It facilitates cross-disciplinary problem-solving across teams and programs and helps ensure that work is coordinated and complete. The role is suited to someone seeking high impact in fast-paced, intense, Skunkworks-style projects. The engineer will oversee design reviews and design criteria, facilitate decisions and follow-through, integrate closely with hardware and engineering teams, maintain configuration and controlled design documentation, and manage engineering risks. The role also involves coordinating subsystem interfaces and automating review, document-control, and risk workflows, including through AI where useful. General Matter enriches uranium and is designing, building, and operating enrichment services in the United States. The company describes itself as a lean, mission-driven team focused on making nuclear energy more affordable, with a culture of urgency, accountability, and transparency. The position offers a stated base salary range of $85,000–$180,000 annually.
