About The Position

This is a part-time, remote internship position in the USA for a Design Intern within Creative Labs. The role involves contributing to the creative process and development of communication tools for InterVarsity/USA. Interns will assist in upholding the visual identity and brand, design and produce visuals for various resources, and may be involved in photography production. They will also create templates for visual communication, work with clients and supervisors to understand project scope, research and conceptualize visual treatments, present drafts, and complete final outputs in necessary formats. The position also emphasizes developing design skills through training and staying current on design trends and computer systems. Team contribution includes responsible stewardship of resources, completing projects within allocated time, working on special ministry tasks, maintaining healthy relationships, providing feedback on others' work, organizing design files, and participating in team meetings and feedback sessions.

Requirements

  • Annual affirmation of InterVarsity’s Statement of Agreement
  • A college or university degree or enrollment in a degree program

  • Experience with computers and up-to-date working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs
  • Strong artistic sense, creative skills and technical expertise in visual communication

  • Experience with or knowledge of InterVarsity, or ability to quickly understand and be committed to InterVarsity’s purpose

  • Assist in implementing and upholding the visual identity and brand of InterVarsity/USA
  • Design and produce visuals for various resources
  • May be involved in photography production, processing and editing as assigned and as interested
  • Create and distribute templates for visual communication for InterVarsity staff use
  • Work with clients and supervisor to understand scope and purpose of assigned projects
  • Gather information, research, and conceptualize visual treatments for assigned projects
  • Present drafts that convey concept, layout, size, type size and style, and other related design choices to clients and supervisor for feedback and approval
  • Discuss with supervisor and agree on edits to be implemented into final design
  • Complete final output for assigned projects in necessary format (print or digital) and submit deliverables to clients
  • Develop and grow design skills through participation in training, conferences, and other learning opportunities as assigned
  • Stay informed on trends in the communication field and contemporary media, images, and ideas
  • Stay current on computer systems and other media skills
  • Be responsible for good stewardship of time, equipment, and materials
  • Complete assigned projects within allocated time
  • Work on special tasks related to the ministry of Creative Labs as assigned
  • Maintain healthy relationships with Creative Labs team members and clients
  • Provide helpful critical feedback into other team members’ design work
  • Maintain the organization of design files and image archive
  • Participate in team meetings, project brainstorming, and feedback sessions
