About The Position

Muller Engineering is seeking qualified stormwater candidates at the design engineer level. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and technically skilled professional who is eager to contribute to impactful transportation projects throughout Colorado. A spring/summer 2027 start date is preferred. This position is specifically for Muller’s Transportation Hydraulics team. This team specializes in storm drain and drainageway design, erosion and sediment control, bridge and culvert scour, floodplain analysis and permitting, stormwater detention, and water quality as it pertains to transportation infrastructure and its impacts on adjacent waterways. Muller Engineering is based in Lakewood, Colorado, offering a hybrid work schedule that supports in-person collaboration and flexibility. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or a closely related field) from an accredited college or university
  • 0-4 years of experience with focus on design of stormwater improvements
  • Exposure to hydrologic and hydraulic computer programs such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SRH-2D, CUHP, SWMM, storm drain/culvert/open channel design tools
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills
  • Colorado Engineer Intern (EI)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Open Roads Designer and AutoCAD Civil 3D is a bonus

Responsibilities

  • Design of stormwater improvements such as storm drain systems, culverts, ditches, detention/ stormwater quality features, floodplain evaluations, channel stabilization, bridge hydraulics and scour analyses, gravity irrigation conveyance and diversion, erosion and sediment control, and assistance with environmental permitting.
  • Provide hydrologic and hydraulic engineering support for Muller’s transportation projects throughout Colorado, which include roadways, highways, interchanges, regional trails, multi-modal corridors, pedestrian access, and bridges.
  • Coordinate drainage design with roadway, structures, traffic, utilities, and environmental team members to produce timely, quality deliverables that meet or exceed the project goals.
  • Preparation of construction drawings, development of construction quantities and specifications, technical report writing, construction engineering support, and guiding the work of technicians.
  • Other duties as assigned
