About The Position

Join Contech Engineered Solutions as a Product Development Engineer and help develop stormwater treatment solutions that support environmental sustainability and water quality. The role involves designing, developing, and testing new products from concept through commercialization, contributing to technologies for stormwater treatment.

You will lead and contribute to engineering design projects from ideation through production. Work includes creating 3D CAD models, drawings, bills of materials, and cost estimates; assessing feasibility; prototyping and testing; and applying design-for-manufacturability principles within New Product Development. You will collaborate with other teams to optimize product performance and profitability, build and test prototypes, perform technical calculations, and collect data for analysis. The role also involves monitoring industry trends and emerging technologies, supporting intellectual property management and patent research, and occasionally traveling—up to 10%—for testing, field visits, or vendor collaboration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering degree.
• Hands-on and creative mindset.
• Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

• Two or more years of experience in product design and development.
• Experience with hydraulics, CFD modeling, or stormwater/environmental systems.
• Knowledge of materials, manufacturing methods, and vendor sourcing.
• Familiarity with EPA/stormwater regulations and laboratory testing procedures.
• Background in environmental chemistry or construction tools.
• EIT Certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to engineering design projects from ideation to production.

• Perform feasibility assessments, prototyping, testing, and design for manufacturability as part of New Product Development.
• Collaborate across teams to optimize product performance and profitability.
• Build and test working prototypes, perform technical calculations, and collect data for analysis.
• Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies in stormwater and adjacent markets.
• Support intellectual property management and patent research.
• Travel occasionally, up to 10%, for testing, field visits, or vendor collaboration.
