About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Design and Analysis Engineer to support a Phantom Works Fixed Wing Proprietary Program in St. Louis, MO. The role involves developing and integrating complex, highly integrated Communications Systems, Navigation, and Core Systems. The engineer will define how the design of Mission Systems integrated sensors, communication, and weapons meet the operational needs of the warfighter. This position is within a cross-functional team integrating advanced Mission Systems capabilities as part of a critical development effort. The role operates in an agile development environment, matures products through the development lifecycle, works on next-generation open-architecture model-based designs, and collaborates across multiple disciplines. Day-to-day activities include traditional design engineering, collaboration with cross-functional peers, and presenting technical challenges and solutions to leadership. Frequent interaction with program leadership, customers, and industry partners during critical design phases is expected. This position offers opportunities for engineering skill development with potential growth into a leadership role.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
• 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications
• Experience with MBSE modeling tools
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Experience leading a team of engineers to deliver mission systems capabilities
• Requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Responsibilities

• Make complex software and hardware design decisions for mission processing capabilities
• Lead capability integration team (software, hardware, test) to release capabilities to the customer
• Create and scope mission features for your team to decompose from system level requirements to high level software requirements
• Analyze and translate customer requirements into system, hardware and software designs
• Define logical and software interfaces to ensure compatibility with the platform architecture and ensure proper interoperability with other subsystems
• Utilize Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) for hardware, software, and performance model development. Utilizes MBSE for requirements development, interfaces definition, and traceability
• Tests and validates System functionality and performance to ensure designs meet operational and functional requirements
• Present design change recommendations to upper leadership and the customer
