Dermatology Medical Assistant or LPN
About The Position
The Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works collaboratively with dermatologists to provide patient care at Dermatology Consultants’ Vadnais Heights office. The role supports patient flow and physicians during examinations and medical, surgical, and cosmetic procedures. Duties include rooming patients, remaining with them during visits to scribe in the EMR, and performing clinical and administrative tasks such as laser hair removal, photodynamic therapy, injections, phlebotomy, instrument cleaning, specimen handling, phone calls, scheduling, and patient education. This is a full-time, weekday position scheduled for 40 hours per week, with no evenings or weekends. The stated starting pay range is $22.00–$28.50 per hour.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Practical Nursing program.
- Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or LPN), or ability to obtain certification within six months.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
- Ability to provide services to patients in a warm and professional manner.
- EMR experience and ability to document or scribe in a detailed manner.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct assistance to physicians during surgical and medical procedures, including excisions, skin biopsies, wart treatments, and cosmetic services.
- Room patients and stay with them throughout visits to scribe for physicians in the EMR system.
- Support patient flow and physicians during examinations and procedures.
- Perform laser hair removal and photodynamic therapy.
- Administer injections and perform phlebotomy.
- Clean instruments and handle specimens.
- Perform phone calls and scheduling.
- Provide patient education.
