About The Position

Join the City of Fair Oaks Ranch as a Full-Time Deputy City Secretary and play an important role in supporting transparent, responsive, and effective local government. With a starting annual salary of $57,472, you will be rewarded for your professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to public service. Requirements

  • Associate degree in Public Administration, Business Management, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university
  • Two years of municipal government experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Certification as a Texas Registered Municipal Clerk, or the ability to demonstrate significant progress toward obtaining certification within three years of employment
  • Valid Texas Class C Driver's License
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a public-sector environment.

  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, policies, procedures, and professional standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Notary Public, or the ability to obtain certification within one year of employment
  • Knowledge of the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Public Information Act, and Texas Election Code
  • Understanding of public administration practices, Robert's Rules of Order, and laws governing municipal operations
  • Ability to interpret legal, ethical, and professional standards applicable to public employees and elected officials
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to perform complex administrative work using sound judgment and deductive reasoning
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive records and information

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the daily operations of the City Secretary's Office.
  • Serve as the City Secretary when needed.
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Preserve the City's official records and history.
  • Prepare and distribute City Council, board, commission, and public hearing agendas, notices, information packets, ordinances, resolutions, minutes, and supporting documentation.
  • Attend official meetings, coordinate meeting setup, document proceedings, and ensure required follow-up items are completed.
  • Assist with the City's records-management program.
  • Review and process public information requests and solicitation permits.
  • Support municipal elections.
  • Ensure official documents and records are accurate, secure, and maintained in accordance with Texas law.
  • Regularly communicate with elected officials, City employees, residents, vendors, and representatives from other government agencies.
  • Manage special projects.
  • Provide procedural and operational recommendations.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
