About The Position

The Attorney General's Office in Delaware is responsible for combating crime, upholding civil rights, safeguarding families, fighting fraud, and protecting consumers. The Civil Division, comprising approximately 80 attorneys, provides legal support to executive branch agencies. This includes general counsel advice, administrative hearing prosecutions, board representation, and all stages of civil litigation. The Affirmative Litigation Unit in New Castle County is seeking a Deputy Attorney General to serve as general counsel to the Unemployment Insurance Appeal Board (UIAB) and the Family and Medical Leave Insurance Appeal Board (FMLIAB). Additionally, this role involves administratively prosecuting professional licensees who violate the laws of their professions. Travel to Kent County is required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as general counsel to the Unemployment Insurance Appeal Board (UIAB).
• Serve as general counsel to the Family and Medical Leave Insurance Appeal Board (FMLIAB).
• Administratively prosecute profession licensees who violate the laws of their professions.
• Review appeals to the Boards for timeliness.
• Attend hearings and provide legal advice during the hearings.
• Draft decisions and orders.
• Perform legal research.
• Represent the Boards in appeals to the Superior Court.
• Assist with other legal matters as needed.
• Appear before the boards and commissions that regulate professional conduct pursuant to Title 24 of the Delaware Code.
• Present evidence in adversarial proceedings to prove allegations of professional misconduct and seek disciplinary sanctions.
