The purpose of this classification is to perform advanced level technical duties in systems and solution design, database administration and data analysis within the Fire department. This role involves supervising, directing, and evaluating assigned employees, processing concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals. The manager supervises the day-to-day operations of the planning and technology unit in fire, coordinating daily work activities, organizing and prioritizing workload, making work assignments, providing training, monitoring the status of work in progress, inspecting completed work, and providing technical expertise. The position also involves creating and maintaining planning division systems, solutions, and application servers, and designing database tables, stored procedures, queries, and other products as needed. Functions in a senior capacity for technical staff by providing lead worker training and guidance, and receives, responds to, and investigates data requests. Performs data analysis and interprets findings, prepares and submits reports, ensures accuracy and completeness, and ensures adherence to standards for proper language, grammar, and spelling, as well as appropriate methodology. Monitors and tracks information through databases for the purpose of identifying and evaluating any unusual trends. Maintains confidential files and interacts with various other professional, judicial, investigative, insurance, the media, and public and private agencies in support of data requests, to ensure accurate and thorough information exchanges. Maintains current knowledge of trends and developments in the field for application to functional areas of responsibility. Maintains attendance and punctuality within customary tolerances for this position. Performs other related duties as assigned.
