Department Manager, Pets - Red Wing, MN
About The Position
The Department Manager is responsible for merchandising and sales within the assigned Pets department and providing the highest level of customer service. The position reports to the Store Manager and requires the ability to work days, nights, and an alternating weekend schedule. Extensive knowledge of pet products is preferred. The role includes directing merchandising, setting priorities for the distribution of new merchandise, maintaining adequate inventory, assisting customers, working with Retail Buyers on product needs and information, helping train and direct new department team members, and ensuring safe merchandise handling by employees and customers. Other duties may be assigned by the Store Manager.
Requirements
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work an irregular work schedule, including days, nights, and an alternating weekend schedule.
- Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Frequent bending and twisting.
Nice To Haves
- Extensive knowledge of pet products.
- High school diploma.
- Customer service training and/or experience.
Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate the merchandising of assigned products.
- Set priorities for distribution of new merchandise within the assigned department.
- Ensure adequate inventory in all areas of the assigned department.
- Assist customers with purchases.
- Work closely with Retail Buyers to communicate assigned department product needs and other product information.
- Assist with training and directing new department team members.
- Ensure employees and customers practice safety when handling merchandise.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
