About The Position

The Department Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of an assigned department at Rural King. The role oversees inventory management, recovery, price changes, planogram and playbook feature execution, department cleanliness, and compliance with indoor merchandising guidelines. The Department Lead also provides customer service, supports front-end operations as needed, operates retail equipment, participates in cross-training and learning initiatives, and provides professional support to associates and customers. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of retail experience with knowledge of the specific department.

• Ability to use a ladder and/or pallet jack.
• Ability to navigate and access all facilities.
• Ability to communicate verbally with others in person and via electronic devices.
• Close vision for computer-related tasks.

Responsibilities

• Follow the indoor merchandising guide to maintain consistent department and signage standards and appealing displays.
• Maintain accurate inventory through stock counts, scanning outs, discrepancy reconciliation, and replenishment from the stockroom or top stock.
• Oversee recovery to keep the department neat, organized, and visually appealing.
• Coordinate and execute price changes, updating labels and signage with relevant teams.
• Implement playbook features and planogram sets according to company guidelines and standards.
• Maintain department cleanliness and enforce sanitation and safety protocols.
• Provide customer service by assisting with inquiries, locating products, and addressing concerns using the customer engagement model.
• Support the front end by processing transactions or loadouts as required.
• Use general office equipment, including telephones, copy machines, fax machines, calculators, and computers.
• Operate handheld devices, forklifts, pallet jacks, ladders, and other retail equipment.
• Participate in cross-training for flexibility across departments and responsibilities.
• Participate in learning initiatives, including training programs, workshops, and webinars.
• Provide friendly, proactive, and professional internal and external support, responding to inquiries, concerns, and issues.
