About The Position

The Department Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and effective operations of an assigned department. Responsibilities include inventory management, scanning outs, recovery, price changes, planogram and playbook feature implementation, department cleanliness, and following the indoor merchandising guide to maintain company standards. The role also provides customer service, supports front-end transactions and loadouts as needed, and participates in cross-training and learning initiatives. The position requires flexibility to work a 40-hour workweek with varied hours, days, nights, and weekends as business dictates. No supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of retail experience with knowledge of a specific department.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to actively listen, ask relevant questions, and provide clear and thorough responses.
• Adaptability to changing priorities, unexpected challenges, and evolving business needs; ability to navigate ambiguity and uncertainty.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain composed and focused under pressure.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail and accuracy.
• Comfort navigating computer systems and software to assist customers or manage tasks.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to work a 40-hour workweek with varied hours, days, nights, and weekends as business dictates.
• Ability to maintain a seated or standing position for extended durations.
• Ability to lift, push, and/or pull at least 30 pounds repetitively and 31–50 pounds intermittently.
• Ability to use a ladder and/or pallet jack and navigate and access all facilities.
• Ability to communicate verbally with others in person and via electronic devices.
• Close vision for computer-related tasks.

Responsibilities

• Follow the indoor merchandising guide to maintain department and signing standards and appealing displays consistent with company expectations.
• Monitor and maintain accurate inventory through stock counts, scanning outs, reconciling discrepancies, and replenishing inventory from the stockroom or top stock.
• Oversee department recovery to maintain a neat, organized, and visually appealing appearance.
• Coordinate and execute price changes, updating pricing labels and signage as required.
• Implement playbook features and planogram sets according to company guidelines and standards.
• Maintain department cleanliness and orderliness and follow sanitation and safety protocols.
• Provide customer service using the customer engagement model, including assisting with inquiries, locating products, and addressing concerns.
• Support the front end by processing transactions or loadouts as required.
• Use general office equipment and operate handheld devices, forklifts, pallet jacks, ladders, and other retail equipment.
• Participate in cross-training for flexibility across departments and responsibilities.
• Participate in learning initiatives, including training programs, workshops, and webinars.
• Provide friendly, proactive, and professional internal and external support, responding to inquiries and issues promptly and effectively.
