About The Position

The Department Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of an assigned department at Rural King. The role oversees inventory management, recovery, price changes, planogram and playbook feature sets, department cleanliness, and compliance with the indoor merchandising guide. It also provides customer service, supports front-end transactions or loadouts as needed, and may involve cross-training in other departments. The position uses general office equipment and retail equipment, including handheld devices, forklifts, pallet jacks, and ladders. There are no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

At least 2 years of retail experience with knowledge of the specific department.

Ability to use a ladder and/or pallet jack and navigate and access all facilities.
Ability to communicate verbally with others in person and via electronic devices.
Close vision for computer-related tasks.

Responsibilities

Follow the indoor merchandising guide to maintain consistent department and signage standards and appealing displays aligned with company expectations.
Monitor and maintain accurate inventory through stock counts, scanning outs, reconciling discrepancies, and replenishing inventory from the stockroom or top stock.
Oversee recovery to keep the department neat, organized, and visually appealing.
Coordinate and execute price changes, working with relevant teams to update pricing labels and signage.
Implement playbook features and planogram sets according to company guidelines and standards.
Maintain department cleanliness and orderliness and enforce sanitation and safety protocols.
Provide customer service using the customer engagement model, assisting with inquiries, locating products, and addressing concerns.
Support the front end by processing transactions or loadouts as required.
Use general office equipment, including a telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, and computer.
Operate handheld devices, forklifts, pallet jacks, ladders, and other retail equipment.
Participate in cross-training for flexibility across departments and responsibilities.
Participate in learning initiatives such as training programs, workshops, and webinars.
Provide friendly, proactive, and professional support to internal and external contacts, addressing inquiries and concerns promptly.
