About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Fabrication Lead to oversee daily operations within our Fabrication Department. In this role, you will lead a team producing high-quality structural metal components—including frameworks, machinery shells, and concrete construction equipment parts—while ensuring efficiency, safety, and precision.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or certification in Metal Fabrication OR 1–2 years of relevant fabrication experience OR Equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, blueprints, and basic technical documents
  • Strong math skills (including measurements and precision instruments)
  • Experience operating fabrication and machining equipment
  • Proficiency with hand tools and air-powered tools
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar inventory/manufacturing systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and order processing systems
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification upon hire
  • Stand and walk for extended periods (up to 10 hours per shift)
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
  • Work in a loud manufacturing environment (hearing protection required)
  • Exposure to industrial chemicals and metalworking fluids
  • Requires close vision, depth perception, and attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Plan, assign, and direct daily workflow for the fabrication team
  • Reallocate team members across stations or departments based on production needs
  • Train and mentor employees to ensure performance and skill development
  • Provide input for performance evaluations and address team concerns
  • Promote a safe, productive, and respectful work environment
  • Partner with supervisors and cross-functional teams to resolve production issues
  • Locate, mark, and prepare workpieces for bending and cutting
  • Set up and operate fabrication equipment (brakes, shears, lasers, saws, rollers, punches)
  • Grind, sand, chip, and finish metal to required specifications
  • Inspect workpieces to ensure conformance to quality standards
  • Load, tag, and organize parts for production flow
  • Perform trial runs and adjust machinery to optimize accuracy and efficiency
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and ensure proper machine functionality
  • Claim and track parts, identify shortages, and resolve inventory discrepancies
  • Use SAP and other manufacturing systems for inventory and production tasks
  • Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and production teams to resolve fabrication challenges
  • Develop specifications from general descriptions and create sketches as needed
  • Safely operate forklifts, hoists, and lift tables
  • Follow all safety protocols and handle equipment with care
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and applicable regulations
