About The Position

This is a full- time, fiscal year tenure track faculty appointment with
management and supervisory responsibilities as the Department Head of Languages
and Literature. The Department Head provides leadership, management, planning,
and advocacy for faculty and programs within the unit.

Requirements

• Master's degree in English or related field.
• Five (5) years of full-time teaching experience in higher education.
• A background check will be required for the successful candidate.

Nice To Haves

• Three (3) years of experience in administration, higher education administration

Responsibilities

• Evaluates programs; networks with community agencies by serving on various committees/boards and conducts professional development activities.
• Supervises the development of Institutional Effectiveness departmental plans; resolves student, faculty, and staff problems to the extent possible.
• Supervises all evaluation and personnel academic activities conducted by the department.
• Prepares and delivers lecture on one (1) course per semester.
• Serves on division and college wide committees; collaborates with area colleges to articulate programs.
• Develops and monitors departmental budgets including grants, goals and plans; and develops class schedules each semester.
• Facilitates curriculum development; the hiring of full-time and adjunct faculty; and makes teaching assignments each term.
• Supervises curriculum implementation.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
