About The Position

The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a dedicated Dentist who is here to bring high-quality dental care to the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Albion. Requirements

• Graduation from an approved school of dentistry. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
• Possess a license to practice dentistry issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.
• Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform examinations, review medical histories, diagnose oral diseases, and develop treatment plans
• Provide restorative and preventative dental services while following infection control procedures
• Consult with physicians, oral surgeons, and specialists, and assist with onsite treatment as needed
• Guide Dental Assistants and Hygienists, provide training, evaluate performance, and participate in hiring and corrective actions
• Examine schedules, respond to grievances, review documentation, and prepare required reports
• Maintain supplies and equipment, approve inventory requests, and monitor tool, toxic, and caustic control
