About The Position

The Dentist, part-time will meet, assess and diagnose oral health conditions of patients of Evergreen Health’s Dental Care Practice. They will be responsible for prescribing appropriate medications, health regimens and lifestyle adjustments that contribute to their recovery from diagnosed health issues, prevent health issues, and/or promote a healthier lifestyle. They collaborate and support team members to ensure a patient-focused approach to care. These responsibilities may be revised, as necessary, with proper notification and training provided, where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Doctorate of Dental Surgery or Dental Medicine
  • Licensed to practice dentistry in the state of New York
  • Current BLS and CPR certifications
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with staff, patients, board members, vendors and other external contacts
  • Ability to handle sensitive material, maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and displaying sound judgment
  • Proficient with computers and MS software (Outlook, Word)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to the issues and health disparities faced by underserved populations

Responsibilities

  • Meets with patients to discuss and treat dental concerns, performing regular cleanings and other preventative procedures, and establish a plan for better dental hygiene
  • Performs oral exams, dental surgeries, operative procedures, fabricate oral prosthetic devices, and all other necessary dental procedures required to provide patients with quality dental care
  • Performs dental procedures such as extractions, root canals, identifying tooth decay and filling cavities with suitable restorations
  • Conducts a thorough medical record review of all patients referred to the dental practice
  • Conducts diagnostic testing, including X-Rays, to diagnose oral health conditions
  • Designs and fit dental prosthetics, such as crowns, bridges, and dentures
  • Corrects bite issues and overcrowding
  • Prescribes medication as needed
  • Educates patients on preventive dental care, including proper oral hygiene and importance of regularly scheduled oral health exams
  • Recommends patients to dental specialists as needed for recommended procedures
  • Maintains medical records relating to the oral health of the patient and the treatments provided to them
  • Maintains knowledge of local, state and federal rules and regulations relative to the operations of the practice
  • Provides oversight of infection control policies and procedures
  • Promotes a team based, patient centered model of care through leadership and practice
  • Collaborates and support team members to ensure a patient-focused approach to care
