About The Position

Rhode Island Children’s Dentistry is seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Hygienist to join its pediatric dental team. The role provides dental hygiene care to children in a fun, welcoming, patient-centered environment, with an emphasis on preventive care, patient education, and helping children feel comfortable at the dentist. The hygienist works with dentists and clinical staff to support patient care plans and is expected to uphold the culture, core values, and responsibilities outlined in the SDB Handbook.

Requirements

• Active Dental Hygienist license per state requirements.
• Strong knowledge of child-friendly dental hygiene techniques and patient education.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Nice To Haves

• Previous dental hygiene experience; pediatric experience is a plus.
• CPR/BLS certification, or willingness to obtain it.

Responsibilities

• Perform dental hygiene assessments, cleanings, and preventive treatments.
• Take and process dental X-rays as appropriate.
• Educate patients and parents about oral hygiene, disease prevention, and at-home care.
• Provide compassionate care to children and support a calm, positive experience.
• Maintain accurate patient records and chart clinical findings.
• Ensure compliance with infection control, sterilization, and OSHA standards.
• Collaborate with dentists and clinical staff to support patient care plans.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
