Temple University's School of Dentistry is searching for a Dental Hygienist/Coordinator. As the second-oldest dental school in the U.S., the Maurice H. SALARY RANGE: $70,000 to $75,000. A variety of important factors are reviewed by HR when considering salary, including job duties, the applicant’s education and experience, all relevant internal equity considerations, department budget, and funding source. This position requires the following background checks: criminal history review, child abuse clearance and FBI fingerprinting.

Requirements

  • Registered Dental Hygienist with current Pennsylvania License or eligibility for license.
  • A minimum of three years clinical experience including managing clinical practice and working with a computerized Dental Clinic Management System.
  • Must be able to travel between our clinical locations in Philadelphia and Tamaqua as needed.
  • Ability to obtain PA Child Abuse Clearances.
  • Extreme attention to detail.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills, and ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with internal staff and external customers.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to demonstrate self-motivation, initiative and resourcefulness.
  • A proven track record in maintaining discretion and confidential information.
  • Ability to independently prioritize, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function independently and efficiently without direct supervision.
  • Solid time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to obtain Child Abuse Clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees multiple dental management programs within the clinical areas of Temple University’s School of Dentistry.
  • Acts as a liaison between student dentist, clinic management, faculty and patients.
  • Assists in patient assignments.
  • Monitors patient treatment plans.
  • Communicates patient status with assigned student dentist and supervising faculty.
  • Reviews patient charts and financial status with appropriate staff.
  • Assists student dentist and patient regarding co-payments, scheduling of payment and other relevant financial issues.
  • Provides input into educational assessments for student dentists.
  • Assists with managing the flow of patients being admitted to clinic.
  • Tracks student attendance and generating reports for clinical administration.
  • Manages patient recalls.
  • Works as a clinician as needed.
  • Provides direct patient care.
  • Manages patient re-call and coordinating scheduling treatments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Interface with faculty and clinic management on course of action based upon collected data.
  • Assisting students with scaling teeth.
  • Giving chairside demonstrations.
  • Providing prophylaxis care.
  • Supervising the scaling of the patients seen by students and evaluation of their technique.
