About The Position

The Dental Director is the leader of the dental service line whose primary responsibility is to drive departmental personnel and operations to deliver high-quality dental care with industry-leading clinical outcomes in an effective team-based environment in accordance with accepted dental practice standards and policies. Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Dental Director serves as the clinical and strategic leader. As a key member of the senior leadership team, this role is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered dental care, including a commitment to serving underserved and vulnerable populations. The Dental Director provides clinical oversight across all dental service lines, sets the direction for oral health program growth, and ensures that care delivery aligns with regulations, and best practices.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited dental school with a degree of Doctor in Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) is required, with thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of general dentistry and oral surgery.
  • Seven years of experience as a dentist, plus two to three years of administrative experience in a clinic setting preferred.
  • Active, valid, unrestricted license to practice as a Dentist in the state of Nebraska (or ability to readily get), with a corresponding Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration number.
  • Ability to meet OneWorld’s privileging standards.
  • Current and sustained certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) techniques.
  • Current CEU.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and to make decisions on critical health care programs and issues, analyze complex information, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated experience with leading a team of diverse, multi-disciplinary dental professionals in alignment with OneWorld’s core values of respect and customer service.
  • Ability to travel to and from multiple work locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a Dental General Practice Residency (GPR) or Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) is a plus.
  • Familiarity and experience with dental practice performance standards established by the Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, CDC, ADA, and other such regulatory entities desired.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Leads, manages, and develops Dental planning, programs, and services. This includes monitoring to determine status regarding equipment, material, and personnel for compliance with dental standards, resolving problems pertaining to procurement, training, and assignment of dental personnel, and the development, evaluation, and implementation of new services.
  • Directs, prepares, and disseminates professional data pertaining to new dental procedures and techniques.
  • Actively participates in patient treatment, establishes and implements quality and performance improvement plans and activities.
  • Coordinates the Dental Peer review function and conducts retrospective dental health records audits on a quarterly basis.
  • Develops, implements, and reports on outcomes for oral health care.
  • Develops and implements an annual strategic work plan, supported by monthly written reports and benchmarks submitted to the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Prepares technical and administrative reports and updates as needed.
  • Examines, diagnoses, and treats disease, abnormalities, injuries, and/or disorders of the oral cavity, including: Emergency services: diagnosis and treatment of pain, infection, swelling, bleeding, and trauma. Basic restorative services, basic endodontics, basic prosthodontic restoration, basic oral surgery, and space maintenance
  • Emphasizes primary prevention, inclusive of oral health education, topical and systemic fluorides, periodontal prophylaxis, exams, and dental sealants as appropriate, as well as secondary prevention to include periodic examinations with radiographs, prompt treatment of oral lesions, and compulsory exams.
