About The Position

The Senior Clinical Dental Director will perform clinical services as a Staff Dentist, maintaining standards of dental care delivery across all dental centers and oral health programs. This role involves monitoring performance activities such as patient access, utilization review, and referral management. The Director is responsible for staffing at all GLBHC dental sites, conducting chart audits for quality assurance, grant objectives, peer review, and quality improvement outcome measures. Additionally, the position chairs dental provider/staff and administrative meetings, serves as a dental representative for Quality Improvement and Safety Committees, and maintains relationships with the GLBHC Board of Directors. The role also involves fostering collaborations with community educational institutions and staying current on funding opportunities and relevant legislation, representing community oral health issues statewide and nationally.

Requirements

  • Must have graduated from a U.S. Accredited Dental School.
  • Maintains current certification and appropriate licensure as required by the State of Michigan Board of Dentistry, Board of Pharmacy, and the U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration, and BLS Certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years performance as a Dentist in a group setting.
  • Possesses understanding of quality assurance and utilization review requirements and activities.
  • Analytical skills and good oral and written skills required.
  • Ability to attend to administrative assignments on a timely basis.
  • Demonstrate skill in management of dental staff for day-to-day functions, as well as ability to interpret financial reports and governmental legislation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and or walk for an entire workday.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and or twist while holding up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
  • Full-time, flexible, and varied hours of work.
  • Required travel between GLBHC sites and for attendance at pertinent conferences.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the staffing at all GLBHC dental sites.
  • Responsible for chart audits for dental quality assurance, grant objectives, peer review, and quality improvement outcome measures.
  • Chairs dental provider/staff and dental administrative meetings.
  • Serves as, or ensures dental representative for, the Quality Improvement and Safety Committees and attends other meetings as appropriate.
  • Maintains relationship with GLBHC Board of Directors by attending meetings and submitting written reports as requested.
  • Maintains active alliances and collaborations with community educational institutions including faculty, advisory and board positions.
  • Maintains current knowledge of funding opportunities and relevant legislation at the Federal, State, and local level.
  • Represents GLBHC and Community Oral Health issues statewide and nationally.
  • Attend local or out-of-town training opportunities or meetings as assigned.
  • Assist in the development of additional community based oral programs as needs or opportunities arise.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
