We are currently seeking a Billing Coordinator to infuse new energy into our Billing/Front Desk teams. Our Gateway Plaza location in Patchogue, NY is a welcoming and warm environment, intentionally designed to promote collaboration and foster creativity. Requirements

  • Three or more years experience in dental insurance billing departments.
  • General dental practice experience is a must, three to five years preferred.
  • Flexibility in regards to scheduling.
  • Our office is open 6 days a week, including early morning, late evenings, and some holidays.
  • Billing Coordinators work every other Saturday.
  • Experience providing exceptional hospitality-inspired customer service in a fast-paced Practice.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high follow through.
  • The ability to calculate percentages accurately and quickly.
  • Very strong math skills.
  • Strong ability to understand and explain EOB's.
  • A positive, friendly, and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Collaborative and comfortable in communications with patients regarding sensitive financial concerns.
  • Outstanding teamwork skills and the ability work with a diverse group of people.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish welcomed.
  • Knowledge of Dentrix Ascend (or other dental software) would be helpful in setting you up for success, but not mandatory.
  • Ability and open to learn our dental software.
  • Strong Dental Insurance knowledge is required for the most success in this role.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Send Insurance claims and monitor that all information is available and sent with initial bill drop.
  • Communicate with the team immediately and regularly when service items are missing that may make it harder to get Insurance to pay.
  • Pay attention to and communicate when we see Insurance companies starting to play "games" with claim payment.
  • Get ahead of their "games" and out smart them with our clinical findings clearly and appropriately communicated in hopes to avoid their initial denial.
  • Create standards with the clinical team on what is needed on all claims.
  • Monitor Pre-determinations sent to Patient's Insurance companies.
  • Keeping an eye on their timely return to move forward with patient's care.
  • Communicate with Patient Coordinators about any issues that may arise.
  • Collaborate with our financial team and or Patient Coordinators to address and collect patient balances when they are set to return to the Practice for care.
  • Mentor PC's on how to understand prior balances and what to communicate to patients' in attempt to collect these balances.
  • Comfortable with keeping up to date with email communications as the day goes on.
  • Monitor sent claims that become denied or rejected and in an immediate fashion dealing with all barriers to ensure Practice payment.
  • Address as needed to move process along to ensure insurance payment.
  • Assisting Providers with any further documentation needed to secure timely payment of claims.
  • Constant collaborator in helping Front Desk team increase their knowledge of dental insurance billing.
  • Mentoring new team members when they move through their global training time.
  • Work collaboratively with the entire Practice to meet or exceed monthly goals so all can receive their check exercise bonus!
  • Generate and review reports, when directed.
  • Enter Insurance payments accurately.
  • Add new insurance plans into system when needed or directed.
  • Make sure plan notes are up to date and accurate when working through your day.
  • Send insurance claims & pre-authorizations manually & electronically with necessary attachments and information.
  • Follow our secondary insurance policy to assist patients are submitting their claims accurately and timely.
  • Help assume responsibility to decrease accounts receivable.
  • Close out is assigned on a rotating bases.
  • Make sure work is accurate, timely and shared with the right parties.
  • Participate in bi-weekly Huddle calls with Admins to develop a better process in all we do.
  • Ledger items addressed as needed.
