Dental Assistant
About The Position
Big Smiles is seeking a Dental Assistant to provide dental care to underserved children at schools in Fresno, California, and surrounding areas. This school-based mobile dental program provides a workday aligned with the school day, typically about 6–7 hours between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., with evenings, weekends, and summers off. The role involves traveling to school sites and assisting with mobile dental clinics using portable dental equipment and digital radiography. Full-time and part-time positions are available, with compensation of $22–$24 per hour and a health, dental, and vision benefit package. The posting also describes additional Team Lead responsibilities and requirements, including driving the company vehicle, coordinating supplies and back-office duties, sterilizing instruments, and maintaining the van and equipment. Requirements
- X-ray license.
- Experience with digital X-ray imaging.
- Coronal polishing, radiography, and sealant certifications.
- CPR certification.
- Work experience as a Dental Assistant.
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel.
- Works well with children.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask.
- Team player able to work on a small team.
- For Team Lead duties: at least 21 years old.
- For Team Lead duties: computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- For Team Lead duties: strong people skills and ability to communicate with adults and children.
- For Team Lead duties: reliable and punctual.
Responsibilities
- Provide dental assisting services during mobile dental clinics.
- Perform digital X-ray imaging.
- Chart patient records.
- Assist with equipment setup, breakdown, and sterilization.
- Drive the company van daily to and from school sites.
- For Team Lead duties: drive the company vehicle and travel daily.
- For Team Lead duties: meet deadlines and arrive on time.
- For Team Lead duties: order supplies, sterilize instruments, and perform spore testing.
- For Team Lead duties: handle back-office duties.
