About The Position

Familia Dental is seeking a dedicated, patient-focused Dental Assistant for its Elgin office. The role assists the dentist in providing dental care and supports the company’s culture, mission, and values. The position is open to candidates without prior experience or certification; comprehensive on-the-job training is provided. Dental Assistants work in a fast-paced clinical environment and help deliver high-quality patient care. The schedule is 4 or more days per week, 30–40 hours per week, with full shifts of 8–10 hours. Working hours are between Monday and Friday, 8:30 AM–6:30 PM, and Saturday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM; availability to work Saturdays is required.

Meet state requirements for dental assistant duties, continuing education, or licensure, as applicable.
Basic Life Support (BLS) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate, and radiography certificate.
Availability to work Saturdays.
Dental assisting experience is not required; certification is not required for hire.

Responsibilities

Welcome and escort patients between the reception area and treatment areas in a professional and friendly manner.
Ensure treatment rooms are equipped and stocked, and reorder inventory when necessary.
Take and record patients’ medical and dental histories and vital signs, including blood pressure and pulse.
Document and chart dental procedures performed during each visit according to the dentist’s instructions and legal requirements.
Take and develop diagnostic dental X-rays.
Pour and base diagnostic models and fabricate temporary restorations as permitted by state law.
Sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials, and assist the dentist during procedures.
Educate patients about dental health and oral hygiene strategies, including brushing, flossing, and nutrition.
Notify the Office Manager about equipment problems or general safety concerns.
Attend and participate in morning huddles, chart reviews, and regular office meetings.
Recognize and be sensitive to patients’ emotions.
Follow company policies and procedures and applicable state and federal laws related to dental offices.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
