About The Position

Knox Public Health is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join its Community Health Center dental team. The position supports high-quality dental care by providing chairside assistance, preparing treatment areas, maintaining infection control standards, and supporting efficient daily clinical operations. The Dental Assistant works alongside dentists, dental hygienists, and other dental professionals to create a welcoming, safe, and comfortable patient environment and contribute to the oral health of the community.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Ohio dental X-ray licensure, or ability to obtain the required credential within 6 months.
Ability to work effectively with patients, coworkers, and dental professionals.

Nice To Haves

Certification as a Dental Assistant (CDA).
Previous dental experience.
Experience utilizing electronic health records.

Responsibilities

Assist dentists, dental hygienists, and other dental professionals during patient examinations and procedures.
Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and equipment for patient care.
Seat patients and provide chairside assistance to help ensure a positive patient experience.
Take and process dental X-rays in accordance with applicable regulations and clinic protocols.
Clean, disinfect, and sterilize dental instruments and equipment while following infection prevention and safety standards.
Maintain treatment areas, monitor supplies, and assist with inventory management.
Support accurate patient documentation and maintain organized patient records.
Assist with patient registration, scheduling-related support, and other administrative functions as needed.
Work collaboratively with the dental team to support efficient patient flow and high-quality care.
