About The Position

Exceptional Dental of Midcity is seeking a Dental Assistant to join its high-end dental office in Midcity, New Orleans. The practice offers state-of-the-art facilities and benefits. The Dental Assistant supports dentists during examinations and procedures, helps maintain patient comfort and efficiency, provides patient education, and completes clinical and administrative duties. The role requires professional, punctual, and cooperative conduct, the ability to manage multiple deadlines and assignments, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to lift at least 35 pounds to transfer equipment and pack and unpack supplies.
Ability to frequently bend, twist, and change positions to examine and service patients.

Nice To Haves

EDDA certification.
Prior dental office experience.

Responsibilities

Provide instruments and materials to the dentist during examinations and procedures to support patient comfort and dentist efficiency.
Assist with dental and medical emergencies according to OSHA and office procedures.
Assist chairside during administration of nitrous oxide.
Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs.
Make preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts.
Clean and polish removable appliances.
Take and record patients’ medical and dental histories and vital signs.
Record treatment information in patient records.
Expose dental diagnostic X-rays.
Represent the practice in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner.
Maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance in accordance with the assigned schedule and time-off policies.
Handle multiple deadlines and task assignments comfortably and efficiently.
Work independently and cooperatively in team settings.
Perform other duties and tasks as assigned periodically.
