Requirements

  • One year of experience in a dental office or clinic; or Successful completion of an accredited Dental Assisting certificate program; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Successfully completed the Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) Exam as required by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.
  • Successful completion of the training academy in Elizabethtown, PA.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Dentist during procedures by preparing tools, charting findings, and performing suction, irrigation, and drying
  • Prepare workspaces, sterilize tools, mix solutions, position patients, and break down areas after procedures
  • Expose, process, mount, and label radiographs while evaluating diagnostic quality
  • Take dental impressions and create, trim, and evaluate study models and diagnostic casts
  • Schedule appointments, maintain call lists, and file and retrieve dental documents
  • Prepare lab paperwork, invoices, referral documentation, and prescription forms
  • Explain preventative care and post-procedure guidance to patients
