About The Position

Perform routine tasks assisting professional dental staff and students in examining patients and providing prophylactic, therapeutic, and surgical treatment. The position works under direct supervision and provides chairside support while helping teach dental students, dental assisting students, and dental hygiene students principles of four-handed dentistry and dental assistant utilization. Employees must permanently reside and work in Texas. This is a security-sensitive position subject to routine review as described in the posting.

Requirements

Basic office or computer skills.
Dental Assistant certification by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) is required.
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
Must be able to meet the security-sensitive position requirements described in the posting.

Nice To Haves

Completion of a recognized dental assistant educational program is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist in teaching dental, dental assisting, and dental hygiene students the principles of four-handed dentistry and dental assistant utilization.
Provide chairside assistance to students and faculty.
Maintain sterile conditions and prepare equipment, instruments, and supplies in the work area.
Maintain infection control standards.
Maintain records of patients seen, procedures performed, materials used, and appointments.
Respond to emergency situations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
