Demo Studio Engineer

OpenAISan Francisco, CA
$284,000 - $315,000Hybrid

About The Position

The Demo Studio translates OpenAI’s most advanced capabilities into tangible, high-impact customer experiences. We design and deliver the demos, applications, live experiences, and supporting content that help executives and practitioners understand what is possible with AI. Our work sits at the intersection of product, engineering, design, marketing, and go-to-market. We operate as a hybrid product studio and live production team, building experiences that are technically credible, narratively compelling, and reliable in high-stakes settings. We’re looking for a Demo Studio Engineer to help build the demo content, applications, workflows, and technical assets that power OpenAI’s major events, launches, executive programs, booths, breakouts, and scaled content experiences. This role will partner closely with Demo Studio Leads, Content Leads, product teams, designers, and event production partners to create specific pieces of content for high-impact moments. Rather than owning the full demo portfolio for an event or initiative, you will build against the narrative, creative, and technical requirements defined by the Leads, helping turn ambitious demo concepts into polished, reliable, production-ready experiences. You may work on main-stage demo assets, booth experiences, technical workflows, prototype applications, screen recordings, system outputs, explainers, scaled content modules, or other event-ready materials. The work requires technical fluency, strong craft, and an ability to understand how a demo moment fits into a broader story. This role is designed as a growth path into broader demo ownership over time. As you build context and demonstrate strong judgment, you will be given increasingly complex workstreams, more ambiguous problem spaces, and opportunities to own larger pieces of the demo experience.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience building demos, prototypes, technical content, applications, or interactive experiences
  • Technically fluent and comfortable working with APIs, AI systems, data, modern development tools, and product workflows
  • Can translate creative and narrative direction into concrete technical execution
  • Strong attention to detail and care deeply about craft, reliability, usability, and polish
  • Comfortable working in high-stakes environments such as launches, conferences, executive demos, or live event settings
  • Can move quickly through iteration while maintaining quality and accuracy
  • Understand how technical demos support a larger story, audience, and business objective
  • Excited to work across live events and scaled digital content, from stage-ready moments to reusable assets
  • Collaborate well with creative, technical, product, marketing, and production stakeholders
  • Operate with ownership within a defined scope and are eager to grow into broader demo leadership responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Build demo content, applications, workflows, and technical assets for major events, launches, executive programs, booths, breakouts, and scaled content experiences
  • Work from requirements defined by Demo Studio Leads and Content Leads, translating narrative and creative direction into polished execution
  • Create specific demo moments and supporting assets that can be used in live settings, recorded content, digital experiences, sales enablement, and event follow-up
  • Partner with product, engineering, design, marketing, and event production teams to ensure demo content is accurate, reliable, and aligned to the intended story
  • Build and refine prototype applications, agent workflows, screen flows, data-backed experiences, and multimodal demo assets
  • Prepare demo materials for live execution, including system setup, screen records, presenter flows, backup assets, and operational checks
  • Support rehearsals, reviews, and iteration cycles by making fast, high-quality updates based on feedback from Leads and stakeholders
  • Help adapt live demo moments into scaled assets such as explainers, web modules, short-form clips, booth content, and customer-facing materials
  • Contribute to shared demo systems, reusable components, documentation, and best practices that improve quality and speed across the Demo Studio
  • Take on increasingly broad ownership over time, moving from defined asset execution toward larger demo work streams and event-level responsibilities
