About The Position

The Delivery Helper delivers materials to job sites, reports shortages and claims to a supervisor, and assists with loading and storing materials. The role supports delivery operations and may provide a path to other opportunities in Driver, Warehouse, and Yard functions.

The Delivery Helper works safely, checks orders for accuracy, organizes and secures loads, and obtains supervisor approval for load counts and condition. The position assists with unloading materials, maintaining housekeeping in the yard and warehouse, and providing customer service at delivery sites. The helper also supports drivers in evaluating delivery sites and guiding vehicle maneuvering to avoid damage.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with delivery, material handling, and/or warehouse work required.
• Ability to do basic math, read orders, write instructions, and complete forms.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers, coworkers, and supervisors, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems.
• Knowledge of and ability to use safe lifting techniques.
• Proficiency with, or ability to learn, current technologies such as smartphones, GPS, and necessary business applications.

Responsibilities

• Operate safely and contribute to a positive work environment.
• Check orders for accuracy, organize and secure loads, and obtain supervisor approval of load counts and condition.
• Assist with maintaining good housekeeping in the yard and warehouse.
• Deliver and unload materials to the customer’s satisfaction.
• Follow supervisor guidelines and provide excellent customer service.
• Assist with unloading material returned for credit.
• Relay messages from customers while on job sites.
• Assist the supervisor, other employees, and other work areas as assigned.
• Help the driver evaluate delivery sites, identify hazards and obstacles, and guide maneuvering on and off customer property to avoid damage.
• Perform other duties as assigned, comply with company policies and standards, adhere to workplace safety commitments, and complete assigned training.
