About The Position

The Delivery Driver operates equipment, stocks ingredients and supplies, prepares products, processes telephone orders, takes inventory, completes paperwork, and cleans equipment and the facility. The role delivers orders by car to customers and distributes flyers and door hangers. On-the-job orientation and training are provided.

The position involves working in a food-service environment with variable temperatures, food odors, cornmeal dust, hot surfaces, sharp edges, and moving mechanical parts. Most tasks are performed standing, with short periods of walking, occasional desk-based paperwork, and physical activities including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, crouching, and reaching. Delivery work may involve stairs and adverse weather.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record meeting company standards.
• Access to an insured vehicle that can be used for deliveries.
• Ability to comprehend and provide correct written instructions.
• Ability to communicate verbally with customers and coworkers to process orders by phone and in person.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide accurately and quickly, with a calculator if needed, and make correct monetary change.
• Verbal, writing, and telephone skills for taking and processing orders.
• Motor coordination to make precise, rapid movements with the eyes, hands, and fingers.
• Ability to enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.
• Navigational skills to read a map and locate addresses within the delivery area.
• Ability to navigate adverse terrain, including multi-story buildings, private homes, and other delivery sites, while carrying products.
• Ability to direct activities, perform repetitive tasks, work alone and with others, work under stress, meet quality-control standards, deal with people, analyze and compile data, and make judgments and decisions.
• Ability to lift and handle deliveries that may include cases weighing up to 50 pounds and measuring up to 3 feet by 1.5 feet.
• Ability to perform the physical activities described, including standing, walking, lifting, carrying, driving, pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, bending, crouching, squatting, and reaching.

Responsibilities

• Operate all equipment.
• Stock ingredients from the delivery area to storage, work areas, and the walk-in cooler.
• Prepare product.
• Receive and process telephone orders.
• Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
• Clean equipment and the facility approximately daily.
• Deliver products by car to customers’ doors.
• Deliver flyers and door hangers.
• Unload bulk product deliveries using a hand truck and stock cases on shelves.
• Deliver pizzas within the designated delivery area.
