About The Position
The Delivery Driver operates equipment, stocks ingredients, prepares products, receives and processes telephone orders, takes inventory, completes paperwork, and cleans equipment and the facility. The role delivers products by car to customers’ doors and distributes flyers and door hangers. On-the-job orientation and training are provided. The position involves working in a restaurant environment and making multiple deliveries during a shift within a designated delivery area. Duties include handling and carrying food and supplies, using a hand truck and dollies, navigating delivery locations that may include stairs, and performing various standing, walking, reaching, bending, and cleaning tasks. Work may involve exposure to changing weather and temperatures, food odors, cornmeal dust, hot surfaces, sharp edges, and moving mechanical parts.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record meeting company standards.
- Access to an insured vehicle that can be used for deliveries.
- Ability to comprehend and give correct written instructions.
- Ability to communicate verbally with customers and co-workers to process orders over the phone and in person.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide accurately and quickly; a calculator may be used.
- Ability to make correct monetary change.
- Verbal, writing, and telephone skills to take and process orders.
- Motor coordination between eyes and hands or fingers to make precise movements rapidly and accurately.
- Ability to enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.
- Navigational skills to read a map and locate addresses within the designated delivery area.
- Ability to navigate adverse terrain, including multi-story buildings, private homes, and other delivery sites, while carrying products.
- Ability to direct activities, perform repetitive tasks, work alone and with others, work under stress, meet quality-control standards, deal with people, analyze and compile data, and make judgments and decisions.
- Ability to handle deliveries and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds and perform the physical activities described, including standing, walking, carrying, pushing, climbing, bending, crouching, and reaching.
