About The Position

The Delivery Driver safely and efficiently operates a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with company policies and federal and state regulations, delivering freight undamaged. The driver works as part of a team to load and unload building materials and provide a world-class customer service experience. Deliveries are made to commercial and residential job sites, with materials placed in the customer-designated area while prioritizing everyone’s safety. The role is based at Chaparral Materials, Inc. in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Work is primarily outdoors at active construction and customer sites, under varying weather conditions, and may involve early morning starts, overtime, and schedule flexibility to meet operational and customer needs. The driver reports to the head Dispatcher and/or Operations Manager and/or Branch/Area Manager and travels as needed. The position involves operating a commercial vehicle and possibly a boom vehicle, inspecting vehicles and trailers, maintaining regulatory records, and reporting accidents. Drivers must safely handle heavy and bulky building materials and comply with safety procedures and required personal protective equipment. Employment offers are contingent on successful completion of a background check and drug screen, as permitted by law.

Requirements

Minimum Class B commercial driver’s license; Class A is strongly preferred.
Clear three-year Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
Overall knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations.
High school diploma or GED.
Ability to lift and move building materials weighing up to 100 pounds, with assistance or mechanical equipment as needed.
Ability to judge distances while delivering materials and/or operating a boom.
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information with management and coworkers.
Ability to perform the physical activities and work in the conditions described, including operating delivery vehicles and handling materials at outdoor job sites.

Nice To Haves

Class A commercial driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Inspect trucks and trailers for defects to ensure safe operation.
Safely load building materials onto flatbed or boom trucks and unload products at commercial and residential job sites.
Deliver materials to the area designated by the customer while prioritizing personal safety and the safety of others.
Maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations.
Report all accidents involving the driver or company equipment.
Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional attitude.
Collaborate with logistics and operations teams.
Adhere to transportation safety regulations and company safety procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment.
