About The Position
The Delivery Driver operates equipment, stocks ingredients, prepares products, receives and processes telephone orders, takes inventory, completes paperwork, and cleans equipment and the facility. The role delivers products by car to customers’ doors and distributes flyers and door hangers. On-the-job orientation and training are provided. The position involves working in a restaurant environment with changing temperatures, food odors, cornmeal dust, hot surfaces, sharp edges, moving mechanical parts, and cramped spaces. Most tasks are performed standing, with short-distance walking in the store and travel between the store, delivery vehicle, and customer locations. Duties also involve lifting and carrying supplies and products, pushing or pulling trays on dollies, and occasionally navigating stairs or ladders.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record meeting company standards.
- Access to an insured vehicle that can be used for delivery.
- Ability to comprehend and give correct written instructions.
- Ability to communicate verbally with customers and co-workers to process orders by phone and in person.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide accurately and quickly, using a calculator if needed.
- Ability to make correct monetary change.
- Verbal, writing, and telephone skills to take and process orders.
- Motor coordination between eyes and hands or fingers to make precise movements rapidly and accurately.
- Ability to enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.
- Navigational skills to read a map and locate addresses within the designated delivery area.
- Ability to navigate varied terrain, including multi-story buildings, private homes, and other delivery sites, while carrying product.
- Ability to direct activities, perform repetitive tasks, work alone and with others, work under stress, meet quality control standards, deal with people, analyze and compile data, and make judgments and decisions.
- Ability to lift and handle deliveries weighing up to 50 pounds and stack cases on shelves up to 72 inches high.
- Ability to perform the described standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, driving, pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, crouching, squatting, and reaching duties.
