About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Part Time Non CDL Truck Driver in Shreveport, LA — offering weekly pay and a driving career you can feel good about. This position offers a local route with home daily, and the opportunity to drive newer trucks. Ryder provides paid training and support to ensure your success. Drivers are empowered to make safety decisions, and their jobs are protected. The role involves delivering SOLO within a 25-mile radius from Shreveport, operating 26' Straight Trucks equipped with rolling carts and lift gates. Freight is touch freight, specifically US Mail. Ryder trucks are 36 months or newer and come with 24/7 roadside maintenance. Drivers fuel up at over 800 maintenance facilities nationwide. Additional requirements for this account include a secondary background screen by the USPS and Selective Service registration for males born after December 31, 1959, unless exempt.

Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Minimum of 6 months of verifiable driving experience
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Must have verifiable driving experience (must be in like equipment if position being applied for is operating a straight truck or box truck): 6 Months experience in the past 3 years, OR 2 years' experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years' experience within the last 10 years
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
  • Must be Registered for Military draft (for US Mail freight)
  • Secondary background screen - Federal Level 2 conducted by the USPS
  • Selective Service registration for males born after December 31, 1959, unless there is a legal exemption

Responsibilities

  • Safely driving a vehicle within and requires compliance with safety regulations, continuous training and customer service.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
  • Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
  • Maintaining accurate records
  • Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
  • Other tasks as assigned
