Delivery Driver/Medical Equipment Technician
About The Position
DME Express is hiring a Delivery Driver/Medical Equipment Technician to deliver and pick up medical equipment—including wheelchairs, hospital beds, and oxygen—for hospice patients. The company is a medical supply provider serving the hospice field and offers training to candidates; no prior experience is required. Average pay varies based on experience. The role combines delivery and pickup duties with patient and family education, equipment handling, warehouse upkeep, and vehicle maintenance. Employees may work weekends and participate in predetermined rotating on-call schedules. The position includes a $500 sign-on bonus, paid in two installments: $250 with the first check and $250 after 90 days.
Requirements
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Be available for a predetermined rotating on-call schedule in a 24/7 operation.
- Accept other duties and activities as assigned.
- Have a clean driving record.
- Be able to lift 75 pounds on a daily basis.
Responsibilities
- Determine or obtain the best daily route; assemble and deliver needed equipment; and educate patients and families on proper equipment use.
- Enforce applicable DOT and FDA regulations for oxygen and durable medical equipment at the assigned service center.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels and high cleanliness standards in the warehouse and delivery vehicle.
- Ensure Medical Equipment Technicians adhere to company and accreditation standards.
- Provide patient or client orientation and instructions on the proper use of equipment when applicable.
- Work with patients and clients to solve problems while representing the company in the field.
- Complete delivery and pickup processes promptly and accurately through the app.
- Assist with cleaning, disinfecting, and minor repairs of equipment.
- Perform required daily preventive maintenance on the assigned vehicle.
- Maintain a neat and clean personal appearance.
- Promote teamwork, including assisting fellow drivers as needed.
- Work on a predetermined rotating weekend schedule when required.
- Take on-call time on a predetermined rotating basis during the week and weekends.
- Perform warehouse and office maintenance tasks as required.
- Demonstrate timeliness, courtesy, sincerity, and patience when working with clients.
- Market the company positively and professionally.
