About The Position

The Deli prepares food and serves AC&T customers promptly, courteously, and in a friendly manner to enhance the company’s image and help make each shopping and dining experience pleasurable. The role is based at Sharpsburg Pike Exxon in Hagerstown, Maryland, and is in the Kitchen department. It reports to the Kitchen Manager. The position is non-exempt and pays $16.00 per hour. The Deli provides customer service at the deli counter; recommends, slices, weighs, packages, and prices meats and cheeses; and prepares sandwiches, subs, salads, other cold items, special orders, and party trays. It also maintains clean, ready-to-use work areas and equipment and follows company and regulatory food-safety and sanitation procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to lift items weighing 25 to 50 pounds.
Ability to operate equipment such as meat and cheese slicers, scales, and cash registers.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to comprehend and follow company procedures and regulations regarding food handling and sanitation.
A courteous and efficient approach to handling customer requests, questions, and complaints.
Deli counter or food preparation experience may be required.

Nice To Haves

One year of deli or kitchen experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide responsive, exceptional service to deli counter customers by answering questions, making recommendations, providing samples, and responding to requests.
Recommend, slice, weigh, package, and price meats and cheeses.
Prepare sandwiches, subs, salads, and other cold items for resale.
Prepare special orders and party trays.
Prepare work areas for customer service by cleaning surfaces, equipment, and floors, removing trash, and confirming tools are in working order.
Follow food safety and sanitation procedures established by the company and regulatory agencies.
Cooperate with others to ensure customer satisfaction.
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned or required.
