About The Position

The Deli Specialist provides deli department excellence by ensuring product freshness, merchandising accuracy, and compliance with food safety standards. The role supports inventory accuracy, product rotation and presentation, guest engagement, and department readiness for promotions and seasonal events. The position emphasizes passion, excellence, hospitality, and teamwork while maintaining operational integrity and delivering an exceptional guest experience.

The role requires a flexible schedule that may include weekends, days, evenings, and holidays. Work involves extended periods standing or walking, repetitive hand and arm movements, bending and reaching, and exposure to extreme temperatures. The employee must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds independently and use the required tools and equipment. Approved headwear and personal protective equipment are required.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in retail, grocery, restaurant, or hospitality operations.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and work at a fast pace.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, days, evenings, and holidays.
• Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements, grasp, bend, and reach; lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds independently; and work in extreme temperatures.
• Ability to stand or walk for long periods, including up to 4 hours without a break or as required by law.
• Ability to use knives, ladders, stepstools, box cutters, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
• Must wear approved hat, hair net, and/or beard guard, and personal protective equipment.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Retail, culinary, and/or grocery experience.
• Experience with electronic shelf label systems, inventory management technology, or AI-enabled retail tools.

Responsibilities

• Ensure deli products meet freshness and quality standards, including proper rotation and dating.
• Execute planograms and maintain accurate product placement and signage.
• Coordinate with department leadership on ordering and replenishment of deli items.
• Verify deliveries for accuracy and freshness and follow proper receiving and storage procedures.
• Support compliance during key item transitions and promotional events.
• Follow The Fresh Market policies, food safety requirements, and sanitation procedures.
• Engage guests with a friendly, helpful approach on the sales floor.
• Support deli inventory accuracy, presentation, and department readiness for promotions and seasonal events.
