About The Position

Military Deli & Bakery Services is hiring a part-time Deli Bakery Associate at its Travis Air Force Base commissary. The role serves military personnel and their families and focuses on providing enthusiastic customer service while working collaboratively with the team. This is not a government job, and everyone is welcome to apply.

The position is described as a mid-to-closing shift. The listed commissary hours are 8:30 AM–7:00 PM every day of the week. Associates may be asked to cross-train and perform bakery, deli, and other food-service tasks as needed.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Willingness to cross-train in bakery and deli tasks as needed.
• Effective and friendly communication skills.
• Basic math knowledge and ability to follow written guidelines.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without accommodation.
• Ability to stand and walk short distances for an entire shift.
• Ability to tolerate working in freezers for up to 20 minutes at a time.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Some weekend shifts are required.

Nice To Haves

• Grocery, food service, or retail experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide enthusiastic customer service and communicate positively while working with the team.
• Assist other team members as needed.
• Slice deli meats and cheeses according to customer requests.
• Prepare custom party trays and sandwiches.
• Stock and organize displays and help with shipments as needed.
• Maintain department and equipment sanitation and follow proper food-handling and preparation practices.
• Perform other tasks as needed, which may include cake decorating, baking, and rotisserie chicken preparation.
