About The Position

Military Deli & Bakery Services is hiring a part-time Deli Bakery Associate at Shaw Air Force Base in Shaw, South Carolina. Associates serve military personnel and their families at a U.S. military commissary, providing customer service and supporting deli and bakery operations. The position is not a government job and is open to everyone.

The role involves serving customers, preparing deli products and party trays, maintaining displays and inventory, and ensuring sanitation and safe food handling. Associates may also assist with baking, cake decorating, and rotisserie chicken preparation. The position requires standing and walking for the duration of a shift, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in a freezer for periods of up to 20 minutes.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Willingness to cross-train in bakery and deli tasks as needed.
• Effective and friendly communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math and ability to follow written guidelines.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
• Ability to stand and walk short distances for an entire shift.
• Ability to tolerate working in freezers for up to 20 minutes at a time.
• Ability to work as a team player.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer service and teamwork, using positive communication and assisting other team members as needed.
• Slice deli meats and cheeses according to customer requests.
• Prepare custom party trays and sandwiches.
• Stock and organize displays and help with shipments as needed.
• Maintain department and equipment sanitation and follow proper food handling and preparation practices.
• Perform other deli and bakery tasks as needed, which may include cake decorating, baking, and rotisserie chicken preparation.
