About The Position

The Deli Associate (also referred to as Deli Attendant) is responsible for safe food handling and providing strong customer service at Valley Wide Cooperative. This is a safety-sensitive position with evening hours from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The role involves acknowledging customers, employees, and vendors; helping customers with food orders; keeping the work area clean and organized; answering multiple phone lines; restocking items as time allows; and assisting other employees. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Must be willing to become certified in safe food handling upon hire.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks according to importance and need.
• Ability to communicate with customers, employees, and vendors using proper telephone etiquette.
• Strong team-player focus in all interactions.
• Ability to handle money, give change, and record multiple transactions efficiently and accurately.
• Must exhibit a professional and positive image.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous customer service experience preferred.
