About The Position

Mercer is seeking a Defined Benefit Pension Administrator to join their team in Toronto. This is a hybrid position requiring at least 3 days a week in the office. The pension administrator will work in a team environment as part of Mercer’s Pension Administration Centre of Excellence, providing high-quality administration services to a portfolio of clients. The role involves demonstrating outstanding and timely customer service and contributing to a company committed to enhancing the health, wealth, and careers of its clients and employees, while also investing in its own people's development.

Requirements

Financial and/or mathematics background
Hands-on experience in a Defined Benefit (DB) pension administration role
Strong analytical and organization skills, thoroughness, and attention to detail
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to work in teams, accountable, and resourceful
Strong proficiency in Excel and working knowledge of the MS Office suite

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in a related field such as finance, actuarial science, mathematics, or business administration
Bilingual (English/French)
Work experience with defined benefit pension plans

Responsibilities

Calculate pension benefits and prepare statements resulting from various events (termination of employment, retirement, death, marriage breakdown, transfer, etc.)
Update client's database (data request and validation, use of various systems/databases, data processing and accrual of benefits and other pertinent information, reconciliation of membership, etc.)
Prepare annual statements for plan members
Calculate pension adjustments (PA), pension adjustment reversals (PAR), and past service pension adjustments (PSPA) and pension indexation
Respond to clients and members’ inquiries
