About The Position

Our Toronto office is seeking undergraduate students to join the team as a Co-op in Winter 2027 as part of our Deal Advisory, Valuations - Machinery & Equipment practice. Our Deal Advisory professionals help buyers, sellers, private equity investors, governments, and lenders in developing and executing their value strategies. With one of the largest teams of accredited valuators in Canada, KPMG is a respected leader in the provision of valuation. Our Machinery & Equipment Valuation professionals provide valuation services to public and private companies ranging from owner-operated businesses to large multi-national companies operating in a broad range of industries. These services are provided to clients looking for an assessment of the value of their machinery, equipment and infrastructure related assets for financial reporting, tax planning & re-organizations, estimating insurable cost new and for other regulatory and decision-making purposes. As a key member of our Machinery & Equipment Valuations team, you will assist in valuation assignments in support of the purchase and/or sale of a business, tax planning, insurance requirements and other regulatory purposes. Your work will consist of multiple engagements to successfully complete client deliverables of varying size, scope and complexity.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate engineering, accounting, or finance co-op program with demonstrated aptitude in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Experience working in an analytical role and/or client serving environment.
  • Strong proficiency working in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Basic understanding of and an interest in financial and accounting concepts.
  • Demonstrated analytical and writing skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to solve complex technical problems.
  • Prior experience working in or interest in capital asset intensive industries such as mining, oil and gas, power & utilities, manufacturing etc.
  • You have a strong academic record and demonstrate intellectual curiosity through coursework, projects, or extracurricular involvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Any financial modelling experience considered an asset.
  • Experience using data analytics and visualization tools such as Alteryx, Tableau or Power BI considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with AI‑enabled tools or analytics platforms is considered an asset, along with comfort in leveraging AI to enhance efficiency, generate insights, or support problem‑solving, and a demonstrated interest in how these technologies can be applied in professional settings.

Responsibilities

  • Gathering and reviewing data relating to the assets being appraised, conduct industry research.
  • Conducting cost & market research, build and review valuation models.
  • Performing site inspections to view the assets being valued and gather additional information required for the valuation.
  • Developing and update valuation models in Excel.
  • Assisting in the review of third-party valuations for Audit clients.
  • Thinking creatively to find solutions to unusual valuation circumstances & consult with professionals from KPMG’s Global Valuations network as needed.
  • Writing and edit reports and internal memorandums.
  • Assisting with the development of marketing materials and assist with business development mandates as required.
